Game of Thrones Pays Tribute to Dead Characters With Boyz ll Men at Comic-Con 2013: Watch!

by Tierney Bricker Fri., Jul. 19, 2013 5:12 PM PDT

Game of Thrones, Episode 9 Helen Sloan/HBO

They may be gone, but they are never forgotten!

Game of Thrones has killed off its fair share (and then some!) of characters in its three seasons and the HBO fantasy hit decided to pay tribute to the fallen during their panel on Friday at San Diego Comic-Con 2013.

The panel kicked off with an In Memoriam video featuring all of the series' big deaths, which was set to Boyz II Men's "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday." See, Game of Thrones isn't all doom and gloom all the time—just most of the time!

VIDEO: Watch the epic preview for The Walking Dead's new season!

While we had a good laugh at the tribute, we will admit the "The North Remembers" tag at the end made us tear up a bit!

Recently killed-off cast members Richard Madden and Michelle Fairley (Rest in peace, Robb and Catelyn!) were scheduled to be on the panel, but a fan favorite who was killed off in season one made a surprise appearance: Jason Momoa, who played Khal Drogo, popped up to kiss his former on-screen wife Emilia Clarke. "I'm not dead yet!" he shouted.

Finally, fans hoping to see Sean Bean back in action as Ned Stark shouldn't get their hopes up as author George R.R. Martin admitted he has no desire to write a prequel about the noble Stark patriarch. "No offense to Sean Bean," he said. "It's always sad to see him die. But he does die so well." Martin hinted that fans will probably learn more about Robert Baratheon's rebellion in the series' final two books, The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring.

Glee Delays Season 5 Premiere in Wake of Cory Monteith's Death

by Leanne Aguilera Fri., Jul. 19, 2013 3:32 PM PDT

Cory Monteith, Glee Gallery FOX

In light of the devastating passing of beloved Glee star Cory Monteith, officials at Fox have decided to postpone the premiere of the show's fifth season.

Originally set to debut on Thursday, Sept. 18, Glee's fifth season premiere was pushed to Thursday, Sept. 26, Fox announced in a press release on Friday.

As a result, production on the newest season of Glee will not begin until early August. There are no further details as to how Glee intends to handle the news of Monteith's passing in the new season.

READ: Dianna Agron remembers her "generous and kind" co-star

Although we don't know much about Glee's upcoming storylines, we do know that the Fox hit is adding two new characters to the mix this season. Fans can expect to meet a "cute and quirky" twentysomething girl named Jenny, as well as a new African American student at McKinley High.

Earlier this week, Monteith's autopsy report revealed that the 31-year-old actor died of an overdose from a mixture of heroin and alcohol. The Glee star was found dead Saturday in his hotel room Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in downtown Vancouver after missing his scheduled checkout time.

NEWS: Two New Roles Being Cast in Wake of Cory Monteith's Death

Many members of the Glee family have already released touching tributes about Monteith and the positive influence he had on everyone in his life. Former co-star Dianna Agron described Monteith as "generous and kind" with a "smart, curious mind," while Harry Shum Jr. rememebered his friend as "kindhearted. Incredibly funny. Extremely passionate."

Monteith's death was devastating for everyone on Glee, with a source who works on the show telling E! News, "To say that Cory was much-loved on the Glee set doesn't even begin to do him justice."

Fashion Face-Off: Olivia Munn vs. Olivia Wilde in Sexy Stomach Slits

Olivia Munn, Olivia Wilde Dimitrios Kambouris/WireImage; Christopher Polk/Getty Images for ESPY

This is like the fashion equivalent of dipping your toe in the water.

Two A-list Olivia's—Olivia Munn and Olivia Wilde—jumped on board with the midriff madness trend in two very different ways: one in innocent white and the other in devil red and black. Both are showing no more than an inch of skin, to an incredibly sexy effect.

NEWS: Olivia Wilde spills the beans on her wedding dress details!

The New Girl guest star's Thakoon Addition frock would be a simple white tank dress if not for the missing middle. We can generally get behind a basic style, especially with a statement neckline, but in this case we're afraid it's no match for the future Mrs. Jason Sudeikis' sultry separates.

The cut of her A.L.C. top and patterned pencil skirt are impossible to wear well, and yet the House star rocks it with nothing out of place. That makes Olivia W the winner by a long-shot, in our book.

What's your say?

Evangeline Lilly Debuts Children's Book The Squickerwonkers at Comic-Con

Evangeline Lilly Daniel Robertson/startraksphoto.com

Evangeline Lilly has added author to her résumé.

The Hobbit actress debuted her first children's book, titled The Squickerwonkers, at Comic-Con in San Diego, Calif., today.

"Just finished my first official signing! Thank you all so much for your support! The line was CRAZY!" Lilly tweeted.

WATCH: Spider-Man 2 trailer hits Comic-Con

Dressed in a bright blue strapless jumpsuit, the actress—who worked with illustrator Johnny Fraser-Allen of Weta Workshop—signed copies of her book at the company's booth.

Weta Workshop is the New Zealand-based, award-winning conceptual design and physical manufacturing company famous for a number of well-known pieces of work, including the 2005 remake of King Kong to the Lord Of The Rings trilogy. And, of course, The Hobbit.

'When Johnny and I sat down to create this book together we wanted to make a book that we would like to have read as children and that we would still enjoy as adults today, and that is exactly what we did," Lilly reportedly said.

The Hollywood celeb first announced her new business venture in 2010 during an appearance on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

"I write everything across the board, kids' stories and novels and scripts, and all sorts of things," she told him, and then began to recite the beginning of The Squickerwonkers.

Lilly ended with the mysterious "but there's a secret that lies behind the Squickerwonkers' name, a horrible secret that give Squickerwonkers shame," and told the show host that he'd have to read the book to discover the secret.

What a tease!

Evangeline Lilly's Blue Suit: Repurposed Blueberry Costume or Smurf Shout-Out?

by Jessie Rosen Fri., Jul. 19, 2013 3:00 PM PDT

Evangeline Lilly Daniel Robertson/startraksphoto.com

It's not a great sign when your look is compared to a costume, but it's probably worse if it's compared to a cartoon...

Evangeline Lilly looks sexy as always in this blue, strapless jumpsuit, but we can't quite figure out the outfit inspiration. Is she re-wearing part of last year's Halloween costume? This would make a pretty impressive blueberry. Or is this color in honor of her friends in Smurfs 2—a little subliminal advertising, fashion style?

NEWS: Evangeline is an author! Check out her brand new children's book

We doubt the Real Steel star will reveal her secret (or appreciate our suggestions...), so we'll just judge the look for design alone.

The shape: fun and summery. The fabric: light and breezy. The accessories: a bit too simple, but that's the new author's typical style.

And so we're left with the color: Sorry, but it's way too Smurf covered in blueberries for our style.

Freddie Prinze Jr. to Guest Star on Bones Season 9 as a Blast From Booth's Past

Freddie Prinze Jr. George Napolitano/FilmMagic

It's the battle of Buffy's beaus!

Freddie Prinze Jr.. is set to guest star on the upcoming ninth season of Bones, the former '90s heartthrob's first TV role since an appearance in a 2010 episode of Psych.

Of course, Buffy the Vampire Slayer's David Boreanaz is the star of the Fox drama, and Prinze is married to Buffy herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar, so you can bet your trusty stake that we are positively giddy over this news. Even more so after hearing who he will be playing...

VIDEO: Watch Kristen Bell dish on Veronica Mars and motherhood!

Prinze is set to take on the role of covert CIA agent Danny, an old associate of Booth's (Boreanaz) who has an interest in Booth and Brennan's murder investigation in the Sept. 16 premiere episode. (Fingers crossed for a subtle-but-oh-so-awesome Buffy reference!)

Though he is only slated to appear in one episode, there is a potential for Prinze to return later in the season, according to TV Line, who first reported the news of the She's All That star's casting.

Aside from his short-lived sitcom Freddie, Prinze's past TV gigs include arcs on 24 and Boston Legal. Gellar will also be making her return to the small screen after the cancellation of her CW series' Ringer; she is set to star opposite Robin Williams' in CBS' new sitcom The Crazy Ones. Prinze and Gellar married in 2002 and have two children together, Charlotte, 3, and Rocky, 10 months old.

Bones returns for its ninth season on Monday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. on Fox.

Are you excited to see Prinze on Bones? Sound off in the comments!

'Pink Panther' escapes in armed Swiss prison break

Swiss police are hunting two escaped prisoners and their two accomplicesPolice: One of the inmates belongs to the Pink Panthers, an international jewel theft gangThe two accomplices used vehicles, ladders and automatic weapons to overcome securityThe four men escaped in a gray-colored vehicle, police said

(CNN) -- Police in Switzerland hunted Friday for two inmates who escaped in a prison break staged by a pair of armed accomplices.

The two prisoners who escaped from Orbe prison Thursday evening were named by the Vaud canton's police department as serial criminal Adrian Albrecht, 53, and Milan Poparic, 34, a Bosnian national.

Poparic was jailed for robbery of a jewelry store in Neuchatel and is part of the "Pink Panthers" group, the police statement said.

According to the Interpol website, the Pink Panthers are behind armed robberies targeting high-end jewelry stores in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the United States.

Drag queens, fake beards and chocolates: Notable diamond heists

The loosely associated network of criminals has hundreds of members and is believed to have stolen jewelry worth more than €300 million ($396 million) since 1999, it said.

Several inmates were exercising in an outside area under the supervision of prison officers and private security guards when the two accomplices used vehicles to breach a gate and barbed wire barriers around the prison grounds.

They brought two ladders to help Poparic and Albrecht escape over the barbed-wire of the prison yard, police said.

At the same time, the accomplices directed bursts of automatic weapon fire toward the prison officers and security guards to keep them at bay.

The security personnel were able to take cover and no one was hurt, police said. The four men then torched one of the two vehicles and drove off in the other, a gray-colored vehicle.

Police patrols, canine teams and security officers are combing the area for clues to their whereabouts. The border guards and French police are also involved in the hunt for the four men, police said.

Orbe, a town in Switzerland's western Vaud canton, or state, is not far from the French border.

Why I wouldn't want to be royal

Catherine has been closely watched throughout her pregnancy -- her new baby will be subject to similar scrutiny.Catherine has been closely watched throughout her pregnancy -- her new baby will be subject to similar scrutiny. All eyes have been on Duchess of Cambridge ahead of the birth of her first babyBritain's royal family is closely watched by the media and the publicSimon Hooper: New royal should be "first to embrace the cause of republicanism"Editor's note: Simon Hooper has worked as a journalist covering international news, politics and sports for websites and publications, including CNN, Al Jazeera, the New Statesman and Sports Illustrated.

London (CNN) -- As Britain segues seamlessly through feelgood summer heat from Andy Murray mania to royal baby euphoria, let us at least spare a thought for the unfortunate newborn caught, through no fault other than his ancestry, in the global spotlight.

No royal arrival has been so closely scrutinized since 1688 when Mary of Modena, wife of the widely disliked James II, gave birth watched by dozens of officials amid speculation that her pregnancy was a Catholic conspiracy intended to fabricate a male heir.

Even their presence was not enough to quash rumors that the child had been smuggled into the birthing chamber in a bedpan, and within months James had been deposed; his son was destined to spend his life in bitter exile in France and Rome.

Simon Hooper At least the newborn prince and his parents are unlikely to be run out of the country, even if the flag-waving royalists celebrating the birth are hardly representative of a silent majority largely apathetic about the monarchy and more inclined to treat its modern incarnation as a publicly-subsidized soap opera largely staged for the amusement of American tourists.

'Wicked' author: Royal baby stands for hope

Nor did his mother suffer the indignity of having the home secretary in the vicinity of the delivery room, a custom for royal births only formally ended in 1948.

And there have undoubtedly been worse times in history to be born into one of Europe's great royal dynasties. Paris in 1789 springs to mind, or St. Petersburg in 1917.

The Windsors may have recovered some of their respectability after the nadir in their fortunes in the 1990s that culminated in the 1997 death of Princess Diana, thanks in no small part to the fairy-tale mega-wedding of William and Kate in 2011 and Oscar-winning propaganda such as "The Queen" and "The King's Speech."

To question the role of the monarchy and Britons' attachment to it is still to risk a public flogging from more reactionary sections of the British media, as author Hilary Mantel discovered when she found herself pilloried earlier this year for describing the Duchess of Cambridge as a "plastic princess designed to breed."

The resulting furore missed the point that Mantel was trying to make, which was that members of the royal family, however privileged and luxurious their lives, are essentially prisoners of their own circumstances, trapped by their supposed obligations to an archaic and largely redundant institution.

"Our current royal family doesn't have the difficulties in breeding that pandas do, but pandas and royal persons alike are expensive to conserve and ill-adapted to any modern environment. But aren't they interesting? Aren't they nice to look at?" said Mantel.

Opinion: Baby helps make a monarchy better

If Mantel's point was essentially true of Kate Middleton, who, like a mafia wife, married into the firm of her own volition, how much worse must the situation be for her offspring, who will become public property from the moment he is displayed to the assembled world media on the hospital steps.

And in an age obsessed with the oxymoronic phenomena of "reality" and celebrity, the young royal will be forced to perform a gilded simulation of a normality that he will never experience for real, ultimately embracing the stiflingly conservatism of a British establishment of which the monarchy remains the apex, and allowing their personality to be airbrushed according to public tastes. It will be "The Truman Show" with footmen.

Royals, for better or worse, once inhabited worlds of intrigue, conspiracy and high drama, their lives, relationships and deaths entwined with the rise and fall of nations and empires. The feats and misdeeds of kings, queens and their progeny were fodder for Shakespearean epics.

Yet it is centuries since the British royal family played anything more than a decorative role in the life of the nation -- and this new heir may have to wait the best part of this century before assuming even those diminished duties.

Opinion: How to raise a royal baby

Royal heirs have traditionally passed the years waiting for their relatives to die by becoming champions of worthy causes. Prince Charles is famed for his woolly opinions on environmentalism and architecture, while Prince William has leant his support to the campaign to tackle homelessness.

Perhaps, out of enlightened self-interest alone and with time on his side, the prince could one day become the first royal to embrace the cause of republicanism.

The opinions expressed in this commentary are solely those of Simon Hooper.

The official statement said William and Catherine are now down to the business of getting "to know their son."

The couple has been mum about their immediate schedules.

British media were feverishly reporting where they might be, with the consensus being that the couple and child went to the village of Bucklebury, where Catherine's parents live.

Earlier Wednesday, Queen Elizabeth II went to Kensington Palace to see the newborn for the first time. Uncle Harry paid a visit, too, the palace told reporters.

The public got its first look at the child Tuesday evening, outside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital in London.

The prince and his wife said then that they had been "working on a name."

"So we'll have that as soon as we can...," William said. "It's the first time we've seen him really, so we're having a proper chance to catch up."

Many bets were placed as the public waited for the announcement. British bookmakers Ladbrokes had George and James as favorites Wednesday, followed by Alexander, Arthur, Louis and Henry.

Queen Ella? King Terry? What's in a royal name?

William's name was announced a few days after birth; his brother Harry's upon leaving the hospital.

The baby has a "good pair of lungs," the prince told well-wishers Tuesday evening. "He's got her looks, thankfully."

They took turns holding little George, wrapped in a cream-colored blanket. The parents waved.

William said he'd already changed his first diaper.

"It's very emotional. It's such a special time," Catherine said.

Third in line

The 8-pound, 6-ounce boy was born Monday afternoon. He's third in line, behind Charles and William, to the British throne.

As well as ruling the United Kingdom, George Alexander Louis could one day be king of 15 other commonwealth countries that have the British monarch as head of state if none change their constitution in the meantime.

They include Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Belize and Jamaica.

William placed the teeny royal heir in a car seat in the back of a black sport utility vehicle, then got behind the wheel for the trip to their residence at Kensington Palace.

The grand apartment they will eventually move into within the palace, Apartment 1A, is still being refurbished, so William and Catherine have been living in a small cottage in the grounds.

The internal renovation work at Kensington Palace is due to be completed in the fall. The duke and duchess' staff will also move into refurbished offices there, according to Buckingham Palace accounts released last month.

The late Diana moved into Kensington Palace after marrying Prince Charles in 1981. William and Harry were raised there.

When she died in 1997, mourners laid flowers and tributes outside the palace gates.

'Absolutely beautiful'

On Tuesday, London reverberated with the sound of cannon fire and peals of bells to mark the birth.

Shortly before the new baby's departure from St. Mary's, Prince Charles stopped by for a brief visit with his first grandchild, accompanied by his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall. He told reporters it was "marvelous."

And Catherine's parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, visited earlier. As grandmothers tend to do, she described her grandbaby as "absolutely beautiful."

She and her husband were "so thrilled" about being grandparents.

"It was so exciting. It was fantastic," said Eliza Wells, one of the well-wishers gathered outside the hospital. "The crowd erupted, because everyone's been waiting so long for it."

William and Catherine "both seemed very relaxed, even with the press there and the crowd," Wells said. "They just seemed like a normal couple."

A normal life?

Royal commentators said the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will try to give their son as regular an upbringing as possible.

But the intense media interest in the birth of the new prince highlights the challenge his parents face in trying to protect his privacy and maintain a degree of normalcy.

"This baby has two things stopping it from being normal," historian Kate Williams said. "No. 1, it lives in a life of incredible wealth and privilege. ... No. 2, it is an incredible celebrity, and we've seen this with the coverage."

Opinion: Why I wouldn't want to be royal baby

But Prince William loved that his mother tried to give him as normal a childhood as possible, including trips to the cinema and an amusement park, and sending him to a local private school as a boy. "And that's what he wants for little baby Cambridge," Williams offered.

Although the excitement over his birth is not universal, there's no doubting the level of global interest in the prince.

On Monday, there were more than 19 million Facebook interactions related to the royal baby, according to the site.

His birth also took Twitter by storm.
