Michael Douglas Yachting, Planning to Attend Film Festival in France in Wake of Separation From Catherine Zeta-Jones

Michael Douglas is carrying on across the pond.

A few days before he and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones revealed via their reps that they were "taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage," the actor enjoyed time aboard a yacht off the coast of Sardinia while vacationing with friends in Europe.

Douglas took to the water on Sunday; was in Nice, France, yesterday for dinner at La Petite Maison; and at some point he'll be flying north to attend the Deauville American Film Festival, which kicks off Friday with a screening of Behind the Candelabra.

A rep for the fest confirmed to E! News that Douglas, who scored an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Liberace, and director Stephen Soderbergh (but no Matt Damon) are scheduled to be there to represent the film.

Oddly enough, he and Zeta-Jones were first introduced in 1998 at that event, where, Zeta-Jones later told Parade magazine, Douglas immediately informed her, "I want to father your children."

They tied the knot on Nov. 18, 2000, and have two kids together, 13-year-old son Dylan and 10-year-old daughter Carys.

Sources have told E! News that Douglas and Zeta-Jones, who were last photographed together at the 40th Chaplin Award gala in NYC on April 22, have otherwise been leading separate lives for the past 18 months.

"Michael has not been happy for a long time. They grew apart," one insider tells us. "He is a fantastic father and his kids are his main concern...He wants Catherine to be happy, but they have been struggling for a long time."

"Her issues and his cancer have been very stressful for the pair of them," the source added. "Their friends are shocked. None of them ever thought Michael would leave her."

Zeta-Jones has remained at their home in Bedford, N.Y., while Douglas—who initially moved into a converted barn on a friend's property in Bedford—has lately been living at their Central Park West residence in Manhattan.

George Clooney's Wackiest Faces on the Venice Film Festival Red Carpet

What ever happened to a good ol' fashioned smile on the red carpet? Apparently, that's just not enough for George Clooney.

The Oscar-winner is busy attending the Venice International Film Festival and it appears the actor is doing a whole lot more than flashing his pearling whites.

While promoting his new movie with Sandra Bullock titled Gravity, the 52-year-old hunk appeared to be having a blast on and off the carpet.

As he walked hand-in-hand with his sexy costar, the actor provided quite the show for photographers as he laughed at jokes, mugged at the photogs and even asked one person to wait one minute.

Beauty Police: Gabrielle Union Rocks Siren Soft Curls and a Coral Lip at Venice Film Festival

There is nothing prettier than a smooth blowout with soft loose curls – except when accompanied by a retro black-lined eye and on-trend coral lip.  Gabrielle Union must have made every head turn at the Miu Miu Women's Tale premiere at the 70th Venice International Film Festival yesterday when she showed off those glossy tresses.

Gabrielle's lustrous locks stole the show with her retro side part and cascading curls. But, what made this look such a standout was that her hair was so healthy and shiny, the camera flashes makes her tresses look practically illuminated.

It also didn't hurt that Ms. Union wore classically pretty makeup to complete this retro look. A black-lined eye is universally flattering regardless of eye, skin, or hair color. While the coral lip may not work on every skin tone, it looks beyond amazing on brunettes and women with olive and darker skin tones.

Get the Look: Since styling sirens are her specialty, we asked Nicole Giannini, Owner and Creative Director of Siren Salon in the San Francisco Bay Area to help us achieve Gabrielle's gorgeous look at home:

Plug in your 1 or 1.5 inch curling iron and have 7 duckbill clips ready. Apply a pea-size drop of a shine cream like Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream as a foundation on the ends, and then thoroughly spray hair from the roots to mid-length with a thermal protective bodybuilding spray like Oribe Maximista. 

Then use a large or medium barrel round brush to do a simple blow dry, aiming for smoothness. Once hair is dry, prepare to curl!  

Starting from the back of the side part, take a large section from the crown to the mid-front hairline (it would look like a triangle if you were looking down at the top of your head) and brush all of that hair forward, holding the section straight up from the forehead. Spray section with a heat-activated shine spray like Oribe Soft Lacquer Heat Styling Spray. Curl that whole section back from the face, and clip in place as a rolled pin curl to cool.

Work your way around the head in the same fashion, pivoting from the crown and curling the hair. Spraying each section of hair with Oribe Soft Lacquer Heat Styling Spray will give your curls amazing hold, memory, bounce and shine.  When you're finished curling, let the pin curls sit until they're cool.  

Once curls are fully cooled, remove the clips and brush hair into place with a bristle brush.  Finish with a light anti-humidity hairspray like Oribe Imperméable Anti-Humidity Spray.

To get Gabrielle's makeup look, use a soft black eyeliner pencil like Votre Vu Le Joli Crayon in Charbon to line the upper lash line, making the line thicker as you get towards the outer corners of your eyes. If your eyes are not sensitive, then line the inner waterline of your eyes. Finish eyes by applying 2-3 coats of your favorite mascara.

To copy Gabrielle's coral pucker, first use a feather-proof skin-colored lip pencil like Bite Beauty Contour Lip Liner in Nutmeg to line and fill-in the entire lip area. (Filling in the entire lip area will ensure your lip color lasts longer and will show off maximum pigment)

Then, apply one coat of a glossy longwearing coral lipstick like STILA Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Carina. Blot with a tissue and apply a second coat to ensure longevity.

New Couple Alert? Ellie Goulding and One Direction's Niall Horan Reportedly Spotted Kissing at Music Festival

Is there a late summer romance blooming between two of music's biggest names?

British reports claim that Ellie Goulding and One Direction's Niall Horan were spotted smooching at the V Festival last weekend.

The two reportedly were seen enjoying the Kings of Leon set on Sunday and did their best to blend in with the crowd and not get noticed.

During one of the songs, "Niall allegedly launched himself" into the "Lights" singer for a kiss.

The new couple was flanked by bodyguards so their offstage sweet moments could be kept as private as possible—and away from festival-goers' pesky camera phones.

It looks like the boy-bander has had a crush on the blond beauty for quite some time.

In a recent interview with GQ magazine, the 19-year-old singer said, "I'll say one thing: Ellie Goulding—wow. She's absolutely amazing looking."

Whoa there, tiger!

And now that the 26-year-old pop singer has split from boyfriend Jeremy Irvine, it looks like she's having no trouble at all finding another leading man.

On Aug. 13, Horan tweeted to fans to rally up support for Goulding's latest single, saying, "Everyone my good friend @EllieGoulding Has a huge tune out right now! And I really want her t get #1, go get it"

What a supportive friend…no, but seriously.

And just take a gander at their flirty banter back in July where Horan wrote, "Just listening to some @elliegoulding! What a talent she is! Beautiful voice !"

To which she coyly responded, "I knew you loved me hahaha"

Meanwhile, Horan isn't the only one who is seeing his love life heat up.

After tons of speculation, fellow bandmate Liam Payne has confirmed to Yahoo! Omg! that he is dating his childhood friend Sophia Smith.

When asked whether it was public knowledge, he said, "Well it is now! It's new, she's sitting right over there. It's not been long."

Clearly it's been quite a fun summer for these Brit boys!
