Scandal Scoop: Lisa Kudrow Joins Up for Recurring Role on Season 3

Lisa Kudrow Earl Mcgehee/WireImage

Scandal is adding a Friend-ly face.

Lisa Kudrow is joining the drama series' upcoming third season in a mysterious recurring role, ABC confirms to E! News.

According to Deadline, who first reported the casting, Kudrow will play a politician in the Kerry Washington-led show. Other details of her role are under wraps at the moment, but this guest arc will mark the actress' first return to network TV since that little-known comedy Friends went off the air in 2004.

Kudrow's recent small screen work includes the criminally short-lived HBO comedy The Comeback, and she can now be seen in her improv series Web Therapy on Showtime.

VIDEO: The Scandal cast votes to break Twitter with the season three premiere!

Scandal star Dan Bucatinsky, who received an Emmy nomination for his recurring role as Cyrus' (Jeff Perry) husband, is also Kudrow's long-time producing partner. He recently talked to us about the "heart-pounding" new season.

"Scandal is going to start the season just moments after we left Olivia Pope last season, moments after the car door opens," Bucatinsky said. "We were all very excited to see that, 'Oh we're going to keep going!' We're excited to get to the excitement of understanding the relationship between Olivia and her dad. [We can't wait to find out] who leaked the information that Olivia was the mistress of the president and putting out that fire and all of the crazy. To me, it feels like a crack in the boat. And that there's more and more cracks in the boat."

No word yet on whether Kudrow's character name will be Regina Phalange.

Scandal returns on Thursday, Oct. 3 on ABC.

Beauty Police: Gabrielle Union Rocks Siren Soft Curls and a Coral Lip at Venice Film Festival

Gabrielle Union Venturelli/WireImage

There is nothing prettier than a smooth blowout with soft loose curls – except when accompanied by a retro black-lined eye and on-trend coral lip.  Gabrielle Union must have made every head turn at the Miu Miu Women's Tale premiere at the 70th Venice International Film Festival yesterday when she showed off those glossy tresses.

Gabrielle's lustrous locks stole the show with her retro side part and cascading curls. But, what made this look such a standout was that her hair was so healthy and shiny, the camera flashes makes her tresses look practically illuminated.

It also didn't hurt that Ms. Union wore classically pretty makeup to complete this retro look. A black-lined eye is universally flattering regardless of eye, skin, or hair color. While the coral lip may not work on every skin tone, it looks beyond amazing on brunettes and women with olive and darker skin tones.

Get the Look: Since styling sirens are her specialty, we asked Nicole Giannini, Owner and Creative Director of Siren Salon in the San Francisco Bay Area to help us achieve Gabrielle's gorgeous look at home:

Plug in your 1 or 1.5 inch curling iron and have 7 duckbill clips ready. Apply a pea-size drop of a shine cream like Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream as a foundation on the ends, and then thoroughly spray hair from the roots to mid-length with a thermal protective bodybuilding spray like Oribe Maximista.

Then use a large or medium barrel round brush to do a simple blow dry, aiming for smoothness. Once hair is dry, prepare to curl!

Starting from the back of the side part, take a large section from the crown to the mid-front hairline (it would look like a triangle if you were looking down at the top of your head) and brush all of that hair forward, holding the section straight up from the forehead. Spray section with a heat-activated shine spray like Oribe Soft Lacquer Heat Styling Spray. Curl that whole section back from the face, and clip in place as a rolled pin curl to cool.

Work your way around the head in the same fashion, pivoting from the crown and curling the hair. Spraying each section of hair with Oribe Soft Lacquer Heat Styling Spray will give your curls amazing hold, memory, bounce and shine.  When you're finished curling, let the pin curls sit until they're cool.

Once curls are fully cooled, remove the clips and brush hair into place with a bristle brush.  Finish with a light anti-humidity hairspray like Oribe Imperméable Anti-Humidity Spray.

MORE BEAUTY POLICE: Tips to steal some celeb looks...and avoid others!

To get Gabrielle's makeup look, use a soft black eyeliner pencil like Votre Vu Le Joli Crayon in Charbon to line the upper lash line, making the line thicker as you get towards the outer corners of your eyes. If your eyes are not sensitive, then line the inner waterline of your eyes. Finish eyes by applying 2-3 coats of your favorite mascara.

To copy Gabrielle's coral pucker, first use a feather-proof skin-colored lip pencil like Bite Beauty Contour Lip Liner in Nutmeg to line and fill-in the entire lip area. (Filling in the entire lip area will ensure your lip color lasts longer and will show off maximum pigment)

Then, apply one coat of a glossy longwearing coral lipstick like STILA Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Carina. Blot with a tissue and apply a second coat to ensure longevity.

We can't wait to try this look at home for our next special event.  Who are we kidding? Like we have black-tie events in our future… We're going to rock this look at the BBQs this weekend. There is no such thing as being overdressed when it comes to hair and makeup!

Theatergoers had tons of options to choose from this summer.

From third installments of action pics to comedies starring longtime pals, there was surely something for everyone to see and enjoy.

But while there were a few surprises thrown into the mix this film season, the amount of flops seemed to stack up.

Here's a look at this summer's biggest box office bombs:

The Lone Ranger 2012 - Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer, Inc

1. The Lone Ranger: The  Johnny Depp-Armie Hammer adventure cost a whopping $200 million-something to make but only garnered $175 million in the box office.

Jaden Smith, After Earth Columbia Pictures

2. After Earth: Not even adorable father-son duo Will and Jaden Smith could save this action-packed joyride. The film opened up on the No. 3 spot its opening weekend.

NEWS: What you should know about Lee Daniels' The Butler

The Internship Twentieth Century Fox

3. The Internship: The slapstick comedy from some of our favorites, Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, couldn't quite get off its feet in theaters. The film earned only around $64 million worldwide.

Anthony Hopkins, Red 2 Summit Entertainment

4. Red 2: Even all the star power—Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Catherine Zeta-Jonas—couldn't keep this sequel afloat. While the first film did tremendously well for the studios, the second installment only took in $57 million worldwide.

Channing Tatum, Joey King, White House Down Sony Pictures

5. White House Down: The star-studded cast seemed promising, as did the chilling storyline. But the Channing Tatum film only earned $117 million in global box office bucks—which is technically considered flop-worthy.

Tyler Perry Presents Peeples Lionsgate

6. Tyler Perry Presents Peeples: The Kerry Washington flick opened up to dismal sales at $4.9 million, almost tying with the Mark Wahlberg's latest movie Pain & Gain.

Jeff Bridges, Ryan Reynolds, RIPD Universal Studios

7. RIPD: Ryan Reynolds made his return to the big screen after taking a slight break to enjoy newlywed life with Blake Lively, but his hunky ways weren't enough to salvage the action thriller. The film cost the studios $130 million to make, but only raked in $49 million in ticket sales.

Was Teresa Giudice Event Designed to Raise Money for Legal Defense Fund? No, Insists Real Housewives of New Jersey Star

Teresa Giudice Bobby Bank/WireImage.com

Teresa Giudice and husband Joe may be dealing with legal troubles, but the Real Housewives of New Jersey star insists an event held on Thursday was not an attempt to raise money for their defense fund.

"Tonight's appearance at Maliblue is just a meet & greet w/ fans," Teresa tweeted upon learning of the rumors. "I just heard that some of the workers there wanted to support me and that is very sweet & I appreciate it, but if anyone wants to support me, please do it by donating to a charity I love: @NephCure. Xx."

The speculation apparently derived from a press release that reportedly stated that the event was designed "to help pay any fines or other restitution that Teresa and Joe are ordered to pay."

NEWS: Melissa and Joe Gorga talk Giudices' legal woes

Later, the catering company handling the event tried to clear up the confusion by tweeting, "Our apologies to @teresaguidice about the media & press."

Last month, the Giudices were charged in a conspiracy to defraud lenders and illegally obtain mortgages and other loans as well as allegedly hiding assets and income during a bankruptcy case.

At the couple's most recent court appearance on Aug. 14, they pleaded not guilty to fraud charges. Their next court date is scheduled for Oct. 8

If convicted, each spouse could face a maximum prison sentence of 20 to 30 years, and Joe, who is not a citizen of the United States, could also be deported back to Italy.

James Franco Goes Creepy as Emma Roberts' Soccer Coach in Palo Alto Trailer—Watch!

James Franco's going back to his roots.

The trailer for Palo Alto, based on the actor's collection of short stories, is online (via Vulture) and finds Franco starring as a soccer coach who initiates a relationship—and quite possibly a lot of trouble—with youngster Emma Roberts.

"I'm older and I know that there aren't a lot of good things around and I know that you are really good," the 35-year-old actor's creepy character, Mr. B, tells his much-younger star player in the brief teaser.

NEWS: James Franco wants you to fund his indie film Palo Alto Stories

Beyond Mr. B's creepy come-on to his team's striker, there's more to the tale than that. The film also follows a bunch of high school boys "looking for trouble," as a title card notes, apparently by doing whippets and committing other teenage mischief.

The film, adapted and directed by Gia Coppola—yes, the 25-year-old granddaughter of Francis Ford Coppola—feels like a tribute to her filmmaking aunt, Sofia Coppola, with its lilting musical score and montage of fresh-faced young people living out privileged lives in this wealthy suburb.

WATCH: James Franco' Roast sneek peek

Val Kilmer shows up as a teacher, possibly not as bad a one as Franco's character—though he does go to the trouble of rewriting Roberts' character's paper—as does Gia's great aunt, Talia Shire, in an unspecified role. Playing one of the teens in the ensemble, by the way, is Kilmer's 18-year-old son Jack, who bears a close resemblance to the Top Gunner.

Palo Alto is scheduled to premiere at the Telluride Film Festival this weekend. No word yet on a general release.
